Is X-Men Spinning Off Into A TV Series? Probably!
Fox Television Group chairman and CEO (whatever that is) Dana Walden recently told The Hollywood Reporter they hope to announce a live-action television series centering on the X-Men. Uncanny!
It’s not a done deal, but things are looking pretty optimistic. Plus, if they can do it for X-Files, why not X-Men? Here’s exactly what Walden had to say this afternoon at the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour stop:
“We’re in negotiations with Marvel. We’re hopeful we’ll be able to announce something soon. We’re not closed on a deal yet but it’s something we’re definitely pursuing.”
And that’s not the only scoop; TVLine is reporting that Walden also claimed “the project is being developed as a long-running series versus a limited series.”
As for Fox’s potential clashes with Marvel/ABC/Disney, Walden had this to say: “The characters from the X-Men franchise are with Fox on the feature [films] side, so we won’t be including Marvel characters that are at ABC with Disney.”
Good enough for us, bub. Stay tuned for more news probably very soon. In the meantime, X-Men: Apocalypse is only nine months away!
