Get Creeped Out All Over Again With This New Twin Peaks Teaser
If an award-winning composer plays piano in the forest and no one is around to hear it, does it still sound like the Twin Peaks theme music? We’d say yes. And we think David Lynch would agree.
Actually, we’ve got proof—in the form of this new 30-second teaser clip for the upcoming continuation of the iconic show. In it, original Twin Peaks composer Angelo Badalamenti, who is returning to work on the new Showtime series (along with creators David Lynch and Mark Frost, and stars Kyle MacLachlan and Sherilyn Fenn), plays a few bars of that unmistakable theme music… while floating through the woods. Classic Twin Peaks.
Badalamenti is a regular Lynch collaborator, having worked in the music department on Mulholland Dr., Blue Velvet, and Lost Highway. He also produced the score for the Wicker Man remake (he had nothing to do with casting Nic Cage, okay?). Still, his best-known and most recognizable pieces—for which he was nominated for several Emmys and a Grammy—come from Lynch’s early ‘90s TV show.
Premiering in Canada on the The Movie Network in 2017, Twin Peaks 2.0 will pick up the story of homecoming queen Laura Palmer’s murder and the creepy and surreal ways in which it affected her friends and neighbours 25 years after the crime occurred. Check out the teaser below. It goes best with coffee and pie.
