‘Overwatch‘ First Look!
Today at BlizzCon 2014, Blizzard announced its first new franchise in 17 years, Overwatch. It’s a team-based, 6v6 multiplayer shooter with a focus on “fun, over-the-top” characters. The game was introduced with the above gorgeous CG trailer showing off Pixar-like animation of the Overwatch, “An elite international task force charged with ending the war and restoring liberty to all nations.” Beta sign-ups for the game have just gone live, head over here to get your name in the queue! Gamers Give Back
Today during the opening of the annual BlizzCon convention president and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment Mike Morhaime announced that a charity pet will be put on sale inside World of Warcraft this December to benefit the Red Cross. “It has been really rewarding to partner with you to assist worthy causes in the past and we’re honored to continue the tradition this year.” Last year’s pet, an Alterac Brew Pop, helped Blizzard raise $1 million for the Make-A-Wish foundation. This year’s pet, Argil, will go on sale Dec. 3 through Dec. 31. with “100 percent of the proceeds made this year donated to support the Red cross in Ebola relief efforts.
‘Goblins vs. Gnomes’ incoming this December.
(Elves have yet to comment.) Hearthstone production director Jason Chayes took to the stage during BlizzCon’s opening ceremonies today to reveal ‘Goblins vs. Gnomes‘, the first expansion for Blizzard’s popular digital card game, ‘Hearthstone‘. ‘Starcraft II: Legacy of the Void’ will be a standalone game
The highly anticipated conclusion to the StarCraft II trilogy, will be a standalone game experience. Attendees of the company’s BlizzCon gaming festival were the first in the world to play ‘Legacy of the Void‘, with single-player campaign missions, a new cooperative gameplay mode—Archon Mode, and multiplayer battles featuring several new playable units all on display. Another gameplay mode, Allied Commanders, was also announced at the event.
