Sigourney Weaver Is Gonna Be In Ghostbusters–Again!
At precisely 11:17am this morning (don’t think we needed to be this specific, but hey), Ghostbusters director Paul Feig tweeted a pretty major casting announcement for his upcoming reboot. And here it is:
Gang, trying to keep surprises but this is about to leak, so I’ll tell you myself: the awesome Sigourney Weaver is going to be in our movie!

For those who need a refresher, Sigourney Weaver played cellist-turned-Gatekeeper Dana Barrett in the 1984 original, and also returned to get her baby kidnapped by a 16th century painting in the 1989 sequel. It’s still unconfirmed whether or not she’ll reprise her role as Dana, but Bill Murray recently told Rolling Stone he’ll actually be playing a supernatural debunker, while Dan Aykroyd will appear as a cab driver, so it’s very likely she’ll have a new role.
Weaver isn’t the only old-school castmate we’ve just learned is returning. Boston Herald reports that original Ghostbusters receptionist Annie Potts has a cameo as a hotel clerk. Of course, in the new film office admin duties will go to Chris Hemsworth.
And in case you missed it, last weekend Ernie Hudson tweeted this out:
Who you gonna call when Ghostbusters busts into theatres July 15, 2016?
