So Many Celebrities Are About To Become Dinner In Sharknado: The Fourth Awakens
When your film franchise has already featured celebrity cameos by Ann Coulter as Vice President of the United States, Lou Ferrigno as a secret service agent, and Jerry Springer as Florida tourist who meets a satisfying end many of us have didn’t even know we wanted Jerry Springer to meet, it’s difficult to outdo yourself when it comes time to make the next movie.
And yet… here we go again. A partial list of famous (and infamous) people who’ll be appearing in the new Sharknado movie (we’re up to four now) has been released and it’s impressive.
Sharknado: The Fourth Awakens (did we mention this one’s got a Star Wars spin?) has added two more former Baywatch stars to the cast—Gena Lee Nolin and Alexandra Paul will join David Hasselhoff (yep, he’s returning) to play a pair of rocket scientists.
If you think that’s typecasting, just wait. Dog The Bounty Hunter’s Duane Chapman will fill the role of chainsaw dealer (the only guys who actually look forward to sharks leaving their natural habitats and taking to the skies).
In addition to Chapman, there’s the usual slate of reality TV stars including Dancing With the Stars‘ Kym Johnson, Real Housewife Cynthia Bailey, The Millionaire Matchmaker’s Patti Stanger in the role of a reporter, and Dr. Drew Pinsky, of Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew, playing a pastor. Fittingly, Shark Tank stars Robert Herjavec and Lori Grenier will also appear. If anyone’s got a chainsaw/umbrella hybrid product to pitch them, act now.
And then there are the “real” stars: Wayne Newton, Gary Busey, David Faustino from Married With Children, and Stacey Dash (you might remember her from her awkward Oscars appearance or her strange views on gender and race disparity, but we’re going to pretend like she’s been holed up in a Nepalese monastery since Clueless). Dash will be playing the mayor of Chicago in Sharknado 4. Sorry, Chicago.
Sharknado: The Fourth Awakens will air Sunday July 31 on Space. Like Luke Skywalker before her, we’ll have to wait until then to see if Tara Reid’s April is in any shape to fight off another flying shark invasion.
