Pac-Man Creator Shows Off Original Sketches

A whole bunch of original drafts of gaming’s foremost pellet-munching yellow circle dude were recently posted on imgur. Penciled by the game’s creator, Toru Iwatani, the pics show off some pretty rad hand-drawn sketches on graph paper.

You may remember Iwatani as the guy who had his hand chomped off by alien Pac-Man in the trailer for last month’s Adam Sandler comedy, Pixels.

We’ll spare you the gruesome aftermath.

Since no one wants to see or read about Pixels, let’s take a look at Iwatani’s lovely sketches of the game’s titular hero, his ethereal nemeses, and even an entire stage.

And in case you want to know how they came up with the name Pac-Man, this clip from Edgar Wright’s infinitely wonderful Scott Pilgrim vs. the World explains why its original title, Puck-Man, didn’t pan out.
