Marvel Reveals First Scene From Agent Carter
The Marvel TV panel at New York Comic-Con is always a personal highlight, from the official announcement that “Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.” would be anchored by Clark Gregg as Phil Coulson, to last year’s blockbuster screening. And this year was no different, starting off with head of Marvel TV Jeph Loeb quipping that, “Anyone can be HYDRA…”
Leading to Gregg jumping out, ripping open Loeb’s shirt to reveal a evil HYDRA logo, then jumping into the crowd while the thousands in attendance chanted, “Coulson! Coulson!”
So yeah, it was nuts.
…And then they showed the next episode of the show. Which was the strongest episode of the series yet with plenty of action, laughs, and huge characters moments. But the big news? Marvel showed off the very first scene from “Marvel’s Agent Carter.”
“This was shot on Monday,” Loeb explaining why barely anything is available from the show; before screening one scene and a quick action montage from the upcoming pilot.
The stylishly shot and scored scene featured Hayley Atwell (Peggy Carter) saying goodbye to Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper) who is leaving on a boat to track down a rogue formula that could potentially destroy whole cities.
Meanwhile, he leaves her with his butler Jarvis (James D’Arcy), a man who prefers to be in bed at nine after watching “Benny Hill,” while that’s when Carter quips that she, “goes to work.”
So in that one short scene, everything for the show is set up: Stark’s inventions have gotten out of his control, Carter is the one to track them down, and she’ll clash with the uptight Jarvis.
Oh, and then she totally kicks a dude’s ass in a kitchen.
Who knows how the whole hour will go, but we were completely sold on the premise of the six-hour miniseries (airing in January, 2015) based on less than two minutes.
And seriously, if you’ve given up on it, watch this week’s “S.H.I.E.L.D.” No spoilers, but it feels like the best of the “Mission: Impossible” series, but on TV.
