It’s True—LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens Is Coming To A Console Near You
Star Wars, LEGO, all of it. It’s all true. Following a leak yesterday that WB Interactive would be putting out LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens later this year, the studio has just confirmed a June 28 release date for a LEGO/Star Wars video game crossover that, according to the press release, “will introduce brand new gameplay mechanics to build, battle and fly through the galaxy like never before, as well as new story content exploring the time between Star Wars: Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: The Force Awakens, providing additional insight about the new movie and its characters.”
LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be released on PlayStation 4 and 3, PlayStation Vita, Xbox One and 360, Wii U, Nintendo 3DS, and Windows.
The roster of characters will include goodies Rey, Finn, Poe Dameron, Han Solo, Chewbacca, C-3PO, and BB-8, and baddies Kylo Ren, General Hux, and Captain Phasma, and will take them to such iconic Force Awakens settings as Jakku and Starkiller Base.
A new Multi-Builds system will offer players further LEGO autonomy, with more building options than ever before. Another gameplay addition is Blaster Battles, in which you’ll need to use your surroundings to push back the First Order. Not exactly sure what that means, but colour me intrigued. Also, large arena battles and dogfights should make for interesting flight-based combat—especially since you get to pilot the Millennium Falcon.
Good news if you’re a PlayStation guy or gal: the PS3 and 4 will offer exclusive downloadable content in the Droid Character Pack and Phantom Limb Level Pack.
Xbox owners shouldn’t feel too sore: Xbox One and PS4 will both come in optional deluxe editions containing a Finn mini-figure and a Season Pass for additional DLC that’s sure to please fans.
