Prepare To Fall In Love With Draco Malfoy’s Son Scorpius In Cursed Child
Draco Malfoy might have been an awful troll during his time at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, but it looks like his son Scorpius didn’t inherit his penchant for being a dick. In fact, when we meet up with young Scorpius in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, he’s more Potter than Malfoy.
“Scorpius, at the beginning, has grown up in isolation at the Malfoy Manor,” actor Anthony Boyle revealed in a behind-the-scenes video from the London production of Cursed Child. “[He] hasn’t really spoken to anyone who’s in his peer group. He’s just been alone with his books, reading about Harry Potter and Albus and all of these different people.”

Eager—and maybe a little terrified—to make friends his own age at Hogwarts, Scorpius finds a friend in none other than Albus Severus Potter. “Suddenly, Albus comes into the carriage, and it’s the first time [Scorpius] has ever socialized with someone from his peer group without a family member or a supervisor there. So he has a bit of a panic and just wants to be his friend immediately, and Rose Granger-Weasley doesn’t take too kindly to him. She thinks he’s a bit odd because he is, but Albus quite likes him.”
Albus and Scorpius’s first meeting sounds nothing like Harry and Draco’s run-in at Madam Malkin’s Robes for All Occasions. Then again, Scorpius sounds nothing like his dear old dad. Since Cursed Child takes place 19 years after the Second Wizarding War, we have to wonder if there’s still a divide among pureblood families like the Malfoys and Muggle-borns like Hermione.
If so, Scorpius doesn’t seem interested in the family legacy; the poor kid just wants some friends. No wonder Scorpius is already a fan favourite among those who’ve been lucky enough to see Cursed Child—he’s easily relatable (not to mention adorable).
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is currently in previews in London, but a novelization of the script is set to hit shelves on Harry Potter’s birthday, July 31.
