You’ve Never Seen This Version Of Blade Runner

Blade Runner

Warner

If you’re a die-hard fan of Ridley Scott’s 1982 sci-fi masterpiece Blade Runner then you probably don’t find the fact that there are no less than seven cuts of the movie (five of which are widely available) to be all that ridiculous. You might even be psyched to learn that a unique eighth version has just popped up online.

Set aside your lunch break, because this new 45-minute Blade Runner is comprised of footage you’ve likely never seen before (even if you’ve seen all seven cuts).

UNICORN

By taking bits of B-roll and other footage that didn’t make it into the final cut—err, cuts, this version uses the much-maligned Harrison Ford voiceover to link parts of the narrative together and make up for some missing scenes that play an important part in the storyline of the other cuts. For example, we don’t see Roy and Leon visit the Chinese eyemaker Hannibal Chew, we just hear Deckard describe how he froze to death in his lab and how he reluctantly led the replicants to Sebastian.

Check out the video below. The voiceover is as clunky as it ever was but for fans, it’s still really cool to see familiar scenes shot from different perspectives and some of the other footage that is completely new.
