There were so many ’70s-era and modern-day mutants included in last summer’s “X-Men: Days of Future Past” that some fan-favorites unfortunately hit the cutting room floor. This apparently hurt director Bryan Singer as much as it hurt you and me, but good news is on its way, folks: this summer, get ready for 17 super[hero]-sized extra minutes of…

Rogue!

Singer made the announcement that a “Rogue Cut” of “DoFP” featuring a whole lot more of Anna Paquin’s power-absorbing mutant was on its way on Tuesday (May 5), via Periscope. The video was streamed from the “X-Men: Apocalypse” set in Montreal, so viewers were also treated to behind-the-scenes glimpses of the day’s set — a steel mill that somehow involves Michael Fassbender’s Magneto. Fassbender was there for a quick second, which was long enough to let us know that ’80s Magneto wears flannel.

“I’ve never been one to do special editions or director’s cuts… but for the fist time, there was an opportunity with the ’Rogue Cut’ to do something different, a different version of ’Days of Future Past,’” Singer explained. “It’s about 17 minutes longer… it involves a lot of new scenes with Rogue, it’s also got a few scenes with Jennifer Lawrence, Nick Hoult, and some other elements, some new visual effects, and other things I added to the film.”

This is obviously great news for mutant fans worldwide, since “Apocalypse” won’t hit theaters until 2016. Singer added that he chose the “Rogue Cut” release date of July 14 because it’s “very special” to him… the 15th anniversary of the release of the first “X-Men” movie back in 2000.
