Apocalypse Raises Hell In The Latest X-Men Trailer

The new trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse has arrived and, as you might expect, the title character (Oscar Isaac) is bent on destruction. “Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshipped as a god,” explains Fox, the studio behind the film. “Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign.”

This crisis puts Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) in a tough spot, resulting in at least one inspirational speech (“You’re not students anymore, you’re X-Men”), and a choking incident that’s painful just to watch. Fox elaborates on her predicament: “As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven—with the help of Professor X—must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.”

Sound familiar? It is pretty much the same plot as every other superhero movie, but X-Men: Apocalypse has a secret weapon: its classy pedigree. In addition to the directing talents of series veteran Bryan Singer, this film features a who’s who of talented-actors-under-40, including Fassbender, Isaac, Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, James McAvoy, Olivia Munn, Tye Sheridan, and many more.

You can find the new trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse below. The real destruction begins May 27.
