Watch The Brand-New X-Files Trailer

CTV announced yesterday that they have acquired the six new episodes of The X-Files premiering on January 24th, 2016. Directed by creator and executive producer Chris Carter, this new event series reunites Gillian Anderson’s Dana Scully and David Duchovny’s Fox Mulder for the first time since 2008’s The X Files: I Want to Believe. In these new episodes, Anderson and Duchovny will be joined by series regulars Mitch Pileggi (FBI Asst. Dir. Walter Skinner) and William B. Davis (“Cigarette Smoking Man”), as well as an impressive roster of guest stars that includes Lauren Ambrose, Robbie Amell, Rhys Darby, Annabeth Gish, Annet Mahendru, Joel McHale, and Kumail Nanjiani.

The original run of The X-Files concluded in 2002, but the show has only grown more relevant in the subsequent 13 years. This was apparent in October when the first episode screened at MIPCOM and New York Comic Con—to a rapturous fan response. “I think of it as a 13-year commercial break,” Carter said of the lengthy hiatus. “The good news is the world has only gotten that much stranger, a perfect time to tell these six stories.”

During the weekend of the new season’s January premiere, Space presents The Essential X-Files Collection, 20 classic episodes hand-picked by Carter. This marathon comes to an end on January 24th, and the first new episode debuts that night at 10ep on CTV and CTV GO. Another episode will follow the next day at 8PM, with new episodes premiering over the next four weeks. In the months after this initial run, the series will also be available on CraveTV as part of the popular Sci-Fi & Fantasy Collection.

A brand new trailer for this new season premiered last night on CTV during Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. To kick-start your craving for conspiracy, watch that trailer below.
