This Is What ‘The Hobbit’ Might Look Like If It Was Only One Movie

One movie to rule them all.

Peter Jackson‘s third and final film in “The Hobbit” trilogy hits theaters in less than two weeks, bringing the filmmaker’s journey through Middle-Earth to an end.

For some fans, the journey has already gone on longer than expected. The initial decision to split J.R.R. Tolkien’s tale of Bilbo Baggins into two films struck many as a surprise — and an even bigger surprise when a third film, “The Battle of the Five Armies,” was announced.

Will we ever see a version of “The Hobbit” that shows nothing more than what Tolkien wrote in his novel of the same name? Perhaps not — but editor Joel Walden wondered what such a movie might look like, and cobbled together the following trailer as a result:
