This Hyrules: ‘Legend Of Zelda’ May Be Coming To TV

master-sword-wallpaper-the-

Looks like the Ocarina of Time is playing our song: according to a report from The Wall Street Journal, Netflix is developing a live-action TV series based on the classic Nintendo game series, “Legend of Zelda.”

A quick look at the MTV offices for our reaction:

As you may or may not know, “Zelda” has been on TV once before in 1989, though only as an animated cartoon that lasted about 13 episodes and was totally ridiculous. For years, there’s been persistent rumors that the series — which usually features a young boy (and sometimes teen) named Link saving the fantasy land of Hyrule from evil — would be released as a movie, though those have never come to fruition.

And it’s entirely possible this might not come to fruition, either. Though the report states that Netflix is working closely with Nintendo to develop the series, it still needs a writer, and Netflix declined to comment. Still, the rough pitch is in, to do a series that a source called, ” ‘Game of Thrones’ for a family audience.”

I don’t know, “Game of Thrones” seems pretty family friendly already, don’t you think?

Hey, they could just cast Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as Link, and Lena Headey as Zelda! Make it happen, Netflix.

Regardless of how this all turns out, we’ll be sitting here fingers crossed, hoping beyond hope that we can watch this show with friends. Because as we all know, it’s dangerous to go alone.
