Jessica Chastain And Emily Blunt Join The Huntsman Squad

A first look at the Snow White-less Snow White and the Huntsman sequel—now titled, The Huntsman: Winter’s War—is here, and people have a lot to say about this right now.

First of all, we have the return of Chris Hemsworth as the titular Huntsman.

He hasn’t changed much since the 2012 series starter—except for a little bit of sun-kiss action on his hair, he looks exactly the same as he did in the first. Which is, um, definitely not a bad thing at all.

Annnnd then we get to the ladies.

Charlize Theron is devastatingly beautiful and sharp and deliciously evil (QUEEN!)—so pretty much SAME as the first movie. There aren’t too many surprises in her pic. Hayyy mirror mirror and crow friend!

BUT since this new installment is layered with not one, not two, but three kick-ass lady superstars, each of whom is extremely watchable all her own—Jessica Chastain and Emily Blunt are coming in to fill the Kristen Stewart void—people are pretty interested in what’s happening.

Are those antler blades in your hands or are you just happy to see me?

And here’s Emily Blunt as The Ice Queen

Yes, she is *supposed* to kinda look like a modish Elsa.

According to the official synopsis for the film, the story of Winter’s War is in part a prequel to SWATH, featuring Queen Revenna, pre-Snowy, when her sister Freya “suffer[s] a heartbreaking betrayal” and leaves the kingdom. Like Elsa Hans Christian Andersen’s Ice Queen, Freya can freeze an army and creates a wintry palace of her own to raise a little army—including the Huntsman and Warrior, who forget to be cold-hearted and loveless because they’re both just too hot for that.

Then, after Revenna (is a spoiler alert needed three years later?) goes down, Freya decides the Magic Mirror should belong to her. But they don’t call it a magic mirror for nothing, and the thing can resurrect her lost sister, so now there are two bad bitches witches are going to rule the world with darkness. Unless Huntsman and Warrior can do something about it, that is.

The Huntsman: Winter’s War will hit theatres on April 22, 2016.
