Want To Live In The Millennium Falcon?

If you’ve ever spent time on eBay trying to purchase Star Wars merchandise, you’re well aware of the massive sums fans are willing to spend on their favourite science fiction franchise. It’s not an exaggeration to say that George Lucas’ creation inspires a kind of religious devotion from some fans. If you think you might qualify—and you’re incredibly wealthy—you will be pleased to know that the ultimate piece of Star Wars merch is now on the market: the Millennium Falcon house.

Located in the tropical forests of eastern Australia (Daintree, Cape Tribulation to be exact), this four-bedroom property (known as Alkira) was dreamed up nine years ago by Melbourne designer Charles Wright. Featuring several garages, a pool, 600 yards of personal beach, forests on one side, and mountains on the other, this home is probably worth the $15 million asking price—even if you don’t see the resemblance to the famed Star Wars spacecraft.

A retired postage stamp dealer, owner Rod Perry didn’t make the connection until he saw aerial photographs of the property. “My work was always in historic documents,” he told Mirror Online. “I live more in the 18th century than the 21st, but I’ve noticed the resemblance and other people have too. It’s often called starship galactica and quite rightly so.”

Connected to the property from the time “the very first bit of concrete was poured,” 68-year-old Perry has decided that he’s too old to live in this isolated location. However, he warns future owners that any plans to make this a part-time residence are likely to fail. “It was originally supposed to be a weekender,” he explains. “We never dreamed that we’d actually live here as a home full-time, but as soon as we saw it we fell in love with the place.”
