Something ‘Traumatic’ Happens To Sansa In ‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 5

Has poor Sansa suffered enough? Apparently not, according to Sophie Turner.

Although we’ve only had the tiniest trickle of information so far about the upcoming season of “Game of Thrones,” the things we have heard are downright titillating. The mysterious promise of more screen time for Tywin Lannister; pictures showing what looks like a meeting between [SPOILER] and [SPOILER]; and now, intel from Sophie Turner that Sansa Stark isn’t even remotely done being the series’ favorite punching bag.

In a new interview from the Independent Spirit Awards, Turner teased her favorite moment from the show’s new season, saying, “There’s one scene that I did do which is super, super traumatic, and I love doing those scenes.”

Also of interest: Although Turner really digs the dark direction her character is going, whatever happens is so ghastly that it kind of traumatized everyone else on set.

“It was just really kind of horrible for everyone to be on set and watch, but those kind of scenes are what feed me. That’s why I started acting, to do all the crappy, horrible stuff,” she explained. And she also mentioned that the show will be grim as ever, and maybe even grimmer: “If ‘Game of Thrones’ can get darker, it gets darker.”

Meanwhile, we’re left wondering just what sort of development in Sansa’s storyline could be so horrifying that the rest of the cast couldn’t take it — keeping in mind that these are the same people who gleefully filmed the Red Wedding scene. Do we even dare to imagine what this traumatic moment consists of? …Yeah, of course we do. Below, we round up the likely possibilities.

If he can’t have Cat…
Littlefinger’s interest in Sansa has always had a creepy element to it, and let’s not forget that he had a serious thing for her mother, too. It’s not hard to imagine him ramping it up from “inappropriate leering” to “sexual assault” in the coming season, although we’d much prefer to see poor Sansa (and everyone else, for that matter) to continue to not be raped.

Robin Arryn meets his end
We can probably count on seeing more of Sansa’s bizarro cousin, the little lord of the Vale, whose storyline in the source material includes (minor spoiler) a problem with seizures. Is it possible that Robin’s story arc is about to come to a grisly conclusion — if not necessarily at Sansa’s hand, then at least in her presence, in a scene even more explicitly gross than Joffrey’s poisoning in Season 4? We’re picturing blood, leeches, flying body parts, buckets upon buckets of vomit… well, anyway. It’s certainly possible.

Sansa goes rogue
The plot development we’ve all been waiting for — and the one that seems most likely, after her show of strength toward the end of last season — is one in which Sansa turns the corner from hapless victim to cunning viper. Plus, after four years of lemon cakes, tears, and hopeless crushes on gay nobles from Dorne, the girl deserves a full half-hour of gruesomely taking down anyone who gets in her way.
