Quentin Tarantino Is Ready To ‘Drop The Mic’ After His Next 2 Movies

As soon as he’s done working on one of his most ambitious projects to date—and a break from his typical, action-packed, grisly, and fast-talkin’ beat—Quentin Tarantino is getting ready to call “CUT!” on his career.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the filmmaker revealed at the Adobe MAX conference in San Diego that he plans on retiring as soon as he’s finished up his 10th picture. His exact words in regards to the end of his showbiz days in the not-so-distant future? “Drop the mic. Boom. Tell everybody, ‘Match that shit.’”

The Hateful Eight, he’s got his sights set on an Australian, ’30s-inspired, “Bonnie & Clyde–esque” feature, as well as a work of historical nonfiction that zeroes in on the year 1970, which may or may not be that 10th film. His fascination with this particular year could turn out to be a movie, but he’s not ruling out the possibilities of turning his research into “a book, a documentary, [or] a five-part podcast” for this project.

Either way, Tarantino’s content with that perfect 10 to round out his filmography, so it looks like those third Kill Bill flick pipe dreams are shot for now.
