LEGO Minifigs Go Rogue In Star Wars Superfan-Created Series

Who needs the instruction book when you’ve got The Force (or an iPad)? In the latest and final instalment from Go Rogue series creators James DeJulio, Kevin Ulrich, Dan MacKenzie, and Tucker Barrie, the plans for the Empire’s most devastating new weapon are in the hands of the Rebels. The bad guys, however, have a scheme to reclaim them (and more importantly, a hostage).

Go Rogue is a fan-made, four-chapter video series that lives on the official Star Wars YouTube channel and showcases the upcoming line of Rogue One LEGO sets and figures set to hit store shelves on September 30th (early holiday shopping, anyone?). But it’s more than a clever ad built with 20,000 LEGO bricks, it’s actually a funny and cool example of how companies are expanding outside of traditiona marketing methods and putting money into making things people will actually want to watch (as opposed to forcing us to watch 15 seconds of their message every time we launch a YouTube video).

The series also pulls LEGO/Star Wars fans into the fun with a contest that challenges them to create their own video—the prize? A trip to see a screening of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story in California before anyone else gets to watch it.

Don’t stress out about spoilers, Go Rogue is based on new, imagined adventures that just happen to feature characters from the upcoming Star Wars movie (like Jyn Erso, Director Krennic, Cassian Andor, K-2SO, Baze Malbus, Chirrut Imwe, and a bunch of Death Troopers/mail sorters).

In this latest clip, the Rebels are fighting to keep the LEGO Death Star Set instruction booklet out of the hands of Director Krennic and the Empire. Check out the video below to see what happens when a bad WiFi connection stands between you and your evil destiny.
