Your First Good Look At The King, Courtesy Of This New Kong: Skull Island Trailer
“You shouldn’t have come here,” laughs John C. Reilly’s semi-deranged, former-military-guy-gone-native character in the new trailer for Kong: Skull Island. “We’re all gonna die!”
From the looks of the latest clip, he might be right. Kong may be king on Skull Island, but he isn’t alone there. The island, which has been blanketed by the army’s “scientific instruments” (read: bombs), is home to all sorts of outsized animals (“monsters” if you’re John Goodman) and they aren’t down with the military’s methods for mapping their home. Most terrifying of all: the Skull Crawlers. If Kong’s god, they’re the devil—and they’re coming for Reilly, Goodman, Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, and Samuel L. Jackson alike.
Director and Funny or Die veteran Jordan Vogt-Roberts’ Kong origin story will reboot the franchise with plans to ultimately pit the King against someone his own size: Godzilla. Kong: Skull Island crashes into theatres March 10, 2017. Watch the latest clip below—and get ready to have a Creedence Clearwater Revival classic stuck in your head all day:
