Matt Damon Was Bourne To Brawl In The First Jason Bourne Teaser
Long before Edward Snowden was on the scene, the Bourne movies were informing and/or reminding the world about the dangers of covert government agencies. In fact, this series might have played a role in inspiring the divisive whistleblower. With stories like his fresh in our minds, time has been relatively kind to the Bourne movies. While most fans would rather forget 2012’s misguided, Matt Damon-free The Bourne Legacy, the franchise’s paranoid worldview has been repeatedly validated by an era saturated in surveillance.
It makes sense, then, that Damon and director Paul Greengrass would finally find a reason to bring Jason Bourne back to theatres for the first time since 2007’s The Bourne Ultimatum. According to Universal, the next entry in this series “finds the CIA’s most lethal former operative drawn out of the shadows.” He will be joined there by Alicia Vikander, Vincent Cassel, Tommy Lee Jones, and series regular Julia Stiles.
Our first glimpse of Jason Bourne arrived last night in the form of a 30-second Super Bowl spot.
