Ultra famous for her role as the increasingly deadly Arya Stark on HBO’s biggest show of all time, the 17-year-old Williams is already a three-time Screen Actors Guild Awards nominee, so she’s clearly bringing the goods to BBC’s beloved series.
Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat officially stated that he’s “thrilled to have Williams joining us on Doctor Who. It’s not possible to say too much about who or what she’s playing, but she is going to challenge the Doctor in very unexpected ways. This time he might just be out of his depth, and we know Maisie is going to give him exactly the right sort of hell.”
And here’s what Williams herself had to say on her first day of shooting: “I’m so excited to be working on Doctor Who as it’s such a big and important part of British Culture. I can’t wait to meet the cast and crew and start filming, especially as we’ll be shooting not too far from my home town.”
If you simply can’t wait a handful of months to catch Maisie on Doctor Who, Game of Thrones’ fifth season premieres April 12, which is only a handful of weeks away!
