Check Into the Magical Realm of The Librarians

The Librarians

Space

Returns in 2017

Who knows what lurks beneath the surface of New York City’s Metropolitan Public Library? According to Space’s upcoming series The Librarians (premiering with back-to-back episodes Sunday, December 7 at 8e 5p), the answer is an ancient organization tasked with protecting an unwitting world from a hidden, magical reality that exists around them.

Working from their headquarters hidden below the public library, the group solves challenging mysteries, fights the supernatural, and recovers powerful ancient artifacts, including Excalibur, the Ark of the Covenant, and The Judas Chalice.

Pretty neat stuff, but you probably want to know more about the cast.

The Librarians stars Rebecca Romijn as Eve Baird, a highly skilled agent responsible for protecting the team of librarians, including a bookworm turned dashing swashbuckler and veteran Librarian, Flynn Carsen, played by Noah Wyle (of Falling Skies fame), a role reprised from The Librarian film series. Whuaaa, there’s already a film series? You betcha there’s already a film series, and more!

When the job becomes too big for Flynn to take on alone, and with a threat to both the real and magical worlds looming, the Library recruits four new faces to assist with the workload, including Eva Baird. The three other recruits are Jake Stone (Christian Kane), a rugged oil worker with an encyclopedic knowledge of art history; the quirky Cassandra (Lindy Booth), whose intelligence goes far beyond book smarts; and Ezekiel Jones (John Kim), a thrill-seeking thief who works only for himself. Overseeing the newly formed team is reluctant caretaker Jenkins (John Larroquette). The Librarians includes guest appearances from Bob Newhart, Jane Curtin, and Orphan Black’s Matt Frewer.

So remember to check out (har har) back-to-back episodes of The Librarians Sunday, December 7 at 8e 5p. And keep coming back here to learn more about the show in the coming weeks.
