Check Out The First Footage From Blade Runner 2049
’80s babies and sci-fi fans can rest easy today. The long-coming sequel to the groundbreaking 1982 film Blade Runner will finally arrive 25 years after the original film adaptation of Philip K. Dick’s Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?
The film picks up 30 years after the original flick, with Ryan Gosling as LAPD Officer K, a new blade runner who discovers a secret that threatens to send what’s left of mankind into chaos. This discovery pushes K to find missing LAPD Officer Rick Deckhard, with Harrison Ford reprising his lead role from the original film.
Shot over five months in Budapest and set in Los Angeles, today’s first look at the upcoming sequel shows Gosling and Harrison coming face to face in the lobby of a hotel that has been buried by sand in the desert.
Blade Runner director Ridley Scott returns as an Executive Producer, with Canadian director Denis Villeneuve (Arrival, Sicario, Prisoners,) stepping behind the camera for the highly anticipated sequel.
In addition to Gosling and Harrison, the film also stars Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Robin Wright, Mackenzie Davis, Carla Juri, Lennie James, with Dave Bautista and Jared Leto, though additional characters have yet to be revealed.
Blade Runner 2049 will arrive in theatres in IMAX 3D October 6, 2017.
