Blade Rave Coming to New York Comic-Con
Headed to New York Comic-Con? Well, you might want to give your pleather boots an extra spray of weather-resistant protector, as BBQ Films will be hosting a “Blade Rave” inspired by the infamous scene from the 1998 classic film, starring Wesley Snipes.
The club will be raining blood (or at least a reasonable facsimile) to the pulsating sound of 90s techno, provided by none other than EDM-trailblazers, The Crystal Method. According to the site, costumed actors will be bringing Blade scenes to life, and club-goers can even catch five in a relaxing space styled after Deacon Frost’s Lair, where there will also be a screening of the film. Unfortunately, there is still no word on whether passenger 57, himself, will be making an appearance.
This is just one of the events promoting the convention’s culture at this years New York Superweek—an extravaganza of activities aimed to appeal to the Comic-Con crowd, spread out over the entire city.
The gang at BBQ Films have recreated classic movie moments for fans in the past. Their resume includes a screening of Back To The Future that doubled as the Enchantment Under The Sea dance, a celebration or “Rex Manning Day” for a screening of Empire Records, and even a 80s-inspired beach-party for Weekend At Bernie’s. (Personally, I’m holding out for The Matrix: Reloaded-themed Zion dance orgy…)
