Hot diggity dog, SPACE friends! Last night was the penultimate episode of the first season of Primeval: New World. Actually, it would also be correct to call this the first part of the season finale, because it ended with one heckuva “To Be Continued” cliffhanger that we obviously won’t ruin for you.

Here’s the non-spoiler-y deets: “The Sound of Thunder Part 1” kicks off with a volleyball match that’s quickly disturbed by a stealthy creature sporting a big ass stinger that finds its way into one unfortunate dude’s chest. 

What’s the threat? One character described it as a “giant bug thing,” but a slightly more accurate assessment came from Dylan, who called it “Calcarata.” In semi-normal speak, it’s a massive killer Brontoscorpio. 

Things get really fierce only after the scorpion is sent back to whence it came, when it’s revealed that one of Evan’s team members (not saying who) was grazed by the creature’s stinger and subsequently took some nasty venom. So it’s up to Evan and Dylan to hop through the portal to retrieve a stinger for the antidote.
