Earlier this week, we were blessed with more info about the Neil Gaiman scribed Doctor Who episode that will air in the New Year. One word: Cybermen.

For his second time writing for Doctor Who, Gaiman will be tackling the iconic villains (second only to the Daleks) who were last seen squaring off against the Doctor in the season 6 episode “Closing Time”. Showrunner Steven Moffat stated in a release from BBC America that the Cybermen were always the monsters that scared him the most (and this is coming from the man who introduced us to the Weeping Angels). So, pair that notion with one of the most imaginative writers of our generation (bold statement, I know, but I’m sticking to it) and we have one hell of a treat to look forward to when Who returns.

Still not impressed? Alright, let me drop another name on you: Warwick Davis! That’s right, the star of the HBO series Life’s Too Short and 1988 fantasy film Willow will be guest starring in this episode along with Tamzin Outhwaite (EastEnders) and Jason Watkins (Being Human).

Though no date has been set yet, expect the second half of season 7 to air Spring 2013.
