If you’re a fan of those ultra-successful Paranormal Activity flicks, Stranded is for you. The reality television sister to PA brought to you by the very same producer, in each episode real people are dropped off (STRANDED! Haha! Get it?) at a haunted location for several days and asked to document their experiences.
Our debut episode begins with Sarah, her ex-boyfriend Sean, and their mutual friend Xand taking a boat ride to the remote Star Island, off the coast of New Hampshire. On the island lies the sprawling Oceanic Hotel, which is closed for the season (yup, just like The Shining’s infamous Overlook Hotel).
The trio consists of a paranormal aficionado (Sarah), an undecided enthusiast (Sean), and a cynic (Xand). But five days of slamming doors, self-opening/closing windows, and disembodied child giggles will change their outlook.
If the first episode is any indicator, Stranded is just as much about night-vision terrors as it is about solving mysteries. Thanks to an intricate multi-cam setup, we watch our documenters explore the creepiest annals of the hotel and island: like a nursery full of freaky dolls and a murky graveyard with a hidden secret about Star Island’s unsettling past.
