This past weekend brought us horror! Shark Night 3D and Apollo 18 were both released to, shall we say, unfavourable audiences. It’s hard to be too critical on a film whose name was originally Untitled 3D Shark Thriller brought to us by the people who gave us Snakes on a Plane, because you can’t really take them seriously, but according to Rotten Tomatoes, this movie wasn’t as well received as its predecessor. Apollo 18 was similarly trashed, so I think we can safely say that people are running out of patience for ‘found footage’ horror movies. Maybe it would have been best to stay inside and watch Doctor Who and Torchwood.

The Avengers, Thor 2, and Tom Hiddleston

Tom Hiddleston, who plays Loki in Thor and the upcoming Avengers movie, had some thoughts to share with MTV about his role, and the darkness in Loki, and that he’ll be reappearing in Thor 2. What his role will be, he isn’t sure, but he implied that Loki has a good chance of trying to redeem his actions in The Avengers. Could that mean that things get a little out of hand?

Also we’ve got some serious artwork pouring out for The Avengers! Take a look over at Den of Geek!

The Wolverine

Delayed again, but according to Variety the new Wolverine movie is also being written. Instead of using the script by Christopher McQuarrie, who also wrote The Usual Suspects, we’re getting a re-write by Mark Bomback, who brought us Live Free or Die Hard. We’ll see where that takes us.

Game of Thrones

Reports are in that they’re filming in the Glenns of Antrim, which is important because it looks like a potential location for Storm’s End. If you’re near Cushendun you might want to take a look! Also, for those interested in the casting of villains, two of the baddest of the bad have been revealed. Rorge and Biter will be played by Andy Beckwith and Gerard Jordan, who will be among the band of miscreants traveling with Arya next season. Everyone loves some vicious criminals!

Red Dwarf

Oh yeah, you heard me. It’s been twenty-three years since the first season of Red Dwarf, but pre-production of season ten has officially begun. I guess that means that the 2009 trilogy of specials was season nine. Anyone else curious about what will come of this?

Doctor Who

Next week’s episode is The Girl Who Waited! A minor spoiler warning here, because we have the early synopsis! From Blogtor Who we’ve got this to go along with the trailer:

“Amy is trapped in a quarantine facility for victims of an alien plague – a plague that will kill the Doctor in a day – as the time-travelling drama continues. The Doctor can use the TARDIS to smash through time and break in, but then Rory is on his own. He must find Amy and bring her back to the TARDIS before the alien doctors can administer their medicine. Rory is about to encounter a very different side to his wife. Can he rescue Amy before she is killed by kindness?”

Sounds like quite the episode is headed our way. How many times is the eleventh Doctor going to die this season? He’s catching up with Rory.
