Done with Christmas Movies? Yes? Good. Well, I hope you didn’t bother seeing the New Years Eve movie… which is matched by the title, because as expected, it is yet another rip-off of Love, Actually that fails to deliver. Apparently The Sitter is also not worth your while. New Years Eve has thus far raked in 13 million, and The Sitter 9.9 million, but look on the bright side folks! This weekend you’ve got the option of the second Sherlock Holmes, which is reportedly better than the first, and also Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. Or as I like to call it: The Batman Prologue. However, the new Mission Impossible has also garnered positive reviews outside the six minute prologue to The Dark Knight Rises. You have options coming your way! Shall we get on with the somewhat late in the week, Spoilers?
Ghost Rider 2
Io9.com was kind enough to pass along the Ghost Rider 2 trailer. The movie has mostly been getting some bored-sounding press, but does the trailer make you excited for the return of Nic Cage on fire? You decide.
G.I. Joe: Retaliation
Speaking of things you never wanted to happen, here’s something that is actually surprisingly pleasant. The trailer for the second G.I. Joe has hit the internet, and believe it or not, it actually looks like it will be ridiculously fun. Hey, I’ve been proven wrong plenty of times, but I think I’ll be seeing this with great enthusiasm.
Here’s something new for you that most people are genuinely looking forward to for once! It isn’t a trailer (alas) but we have the first preview poster for Prometheus! I’ll give you a hint: It’s a big face and there’s someone walking.
Did you know that about thirty years ago Tim Burton made a cute short film about a young Victor Frankenstein bringing his dog Sparky back from the dead? Well now it’s going to become a full length movie!
Since Patty Jenkin’s departure, it seems that a director from Game of Thrones might be filling the void. Alan Taylor, of HBO fame, may be stepping up in her place.
Hey, here’s an original movie! The tale of a mother-daughter vampire pair, played by Saoirse Ronan and Gemma Arterton, and their gleeful (maybe) romp around doing vampire things. You can see some photos here, where you’ll also spot Caleb Landry Jones wandering about.
Jack The Giant Killer
Oh hey, here’s the trailer for Jack The Giant Killer!
…I don’t get it.
Lots of news about Doctor who this week straight from Steven Moffat! He told the BBC that, “The final days of the Ponds are coming. I’m not telling you when or how, but that story is going to come to a heartbreaking end.” Ouch. So they’re killing Rory AGAIN?
He’s also letting us in on some of the stories, or at least how they’ll be set up. At this stage it would seem that there won’t be any two-parters heading our way, as he’s instead aiming for nothing that can’t be contained in 45 minutes. You can find out more over at bleedingcool.com!
Though the real question is: will River come back?
