BBC confirmed that Merlin will come to a close once its current season ends.
Creators Johnny Capps and Julian Murphy tell BBCNewsbeat: "We always felt the story of the legend was best told across five series, leading to a spectacular finale that draws on the best-known elements of this much-loved story and brings to a conclusion the battle for Camelot." However, once Capps and Murphy part with Merlin, the BBC might still be interested in expanding the world of Merlin in a possible spin-off.
This series has been on my To Watch list forever so unfortunately, I can’t join you guys in your collective fandom sadness, but being a Browncoat, I feel ya, Merlinians (or is it Merlinites... I have much to learn).
SPACE will air the fifth and final season of Merlin in January. In the meantime, I have some serious catching up to do (this news has definitely bumped Merlin up the list for me).
