S.H.I.E.L.D
It’s been buzzed about for a while but apparently we now have a vague filming start date. Marvel’s S.H.I.E.L.D is getting the television treatment and will start shooting in January 2013 with Joss Whedon directing the pilot and his brother Jed Whedon and sister-in-law Maurissa Tancharoen taking over as show-runners if the show is picked up. Lucky for Whedon, this show will find a home on ABC (owned by Disney, remember? Everybody and everything is owned by Disney) and not FOX which Team Whedon has had his fair share of trouble with in the past.

The Amazing Spider-Man
And of course The Amazing Spider-Man is getting a sequel along with a new villain and it’s going to be Electro! Shocked? [pun not intended until I realized I made a pun and refused to edit it]. I mean, like all comic book movie sequels, they really start digging deep in their supervillain grab bags, but I digress. No one has officially been cast yet but apparently Jamie Foxx was in early negotiations for the role. There is some criticism for this potential casting news because Electro is usually shown as Caucasian in the books. Some view it as a rising trend of getting African-American actors playing roles of Caucasian characters for the sake of diversity. Personally, if the dude is talented and compelling in the role, I say have at it!

The Wolverine
Daily Telegraph obtained some set photos from the upcoming sequel. Hugh Jackman is back in the role that made him a household name in North America. Director James Mangold said the new film will be based on the 1982 miniseries story by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller where we’ll see Wolverine fight ninjas and Tolyo’s criminal underworld.

Jackman will be joined by Will Yun Lee, Svetlana Khodchenkova, Hiroyuki Sanada, Hal Yamanouchi, Tao Okamoto, Rila Fukushima and Brian Tee. The Wolverine opens July 26, 2013.
