While we were all focused on tweaking our final picks for Best Make-Up and Live Action Short feature, the box office continued to roll along. Identity Thief managed to score the top place (again), holding strong against newcomers Snitch and Escape from Planet Earth, which took second and third, respectively. The new Nicolas Sparks adaptation, Safe Haven, finally ousted A Good Day to Die Hard and landed in fourth, while Bruce Willis fell to fifth.

Melissa McCarthy plays a con artist who cons the epitome of normalcy: Jason Bateman. Lacking in any real comedy, the film plods along from one lame joke to the next. It is, however, McCarthy’s biggest release to date, suggesting she’s a comic star to watch.

Snitch $13,000,000

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson proves he can pull in a crowd with Snitch, the other father-saves-son action flick that isn’t A Good Day to Die Hard.

Escape From Planet Earth $11,013,000
