Critics and audiences loved Anne Hathaway as Selena Kyle (and as her alter ego, Catwoman) in The Dark Knight Rises, and Hathaway loved playing her. In fact, the actress liked the character so much that she wants to see Catwoman get her own spin-off film. Has Halle Berry taught us nothing?

Hathaway told Access Hollywood (via NME) that while no one has approached her about doing a Catwoman movie, if it was offered to her, she "would love it." But her interest in a Catwoman solo project seems contingent upon Batman director Christopher Nolan's involvement. Last July, she told Digital Spy that “If he's interested, I'm very interested. I think it would be lovely to see more of her, but only if it's with the right people. She lives in this Gotham City, and so it would have to be established by the people who have made this Gotham City.”

But Nolan has said that he's finished with Gotham—The Dark Knight Rises marks his last Batman-related effort. Which is perhaps why Hathaway is so torn up about bidding adieu to her Catwoman costume: "I was at a press Q&A thing the other night for a screening of The Dark Knight [Rises], and the moderator asked me, 'So what was it like to say goodbye to the character?’ And I burst into tears, because I miss her," admitted Hathaway. "It just makes me cry. I miss her. I love Selena so much and I love her presence in my life and getting to… I'm crying again."

Hathaway hasn't lost hope that Nolan might change his mind, even though she knows that one last hurrah for Catwoman would be bittersweet when, once the film wrapped, she'd have to say goodbye to the character all over again. Still, it's a not an opportunity she'd soon pass up: "Assuming there was enough Kleenex in the world, I would love to do a spin-off," she says.
