SPACE is premiering the mega blockbuster, action-packed, star-studded film The Expendables this Saturday at 9E/6P. And though each cast member embodies action movies and all their glory, they have each taken a turn in the sci-fi genre. Here’s a list of the best sci-fi films these men have been in...

Sylvester Stallone
Stallone has done a few sci-fi films; most notably might be Judge Dredd or Demolition Man. However, my colleague said I had to include Death Race 2000 on this list so Neil, this one’s for you!

Jason Statham
Ghosts of Mars. Ice Cube’s in it... that’s all I got.

Jet Li
Hey, Jason Statham’s also in this one! Well, if there was ever an equal match for Jet Li, it’d be Jet Li. In The One, Jet Li plays multiple roles in multiple parallel universes, each of which is being killed off by one particularly nasty version of himself enabling him to become stronger. Everybody get that? No? Watch the trailer...

Dolph Lundgren
Nope, did not even have to think twice about which Dolph Lundgren sci-fi film to include on this list. For me, there is only one! Dolph steps out of his usual evil 80s Russian villain role to play He-Man. In Masters of the Universe, he squares off against Frank Langella’s Skeletor with the help from earthlings played by Courtney Cox and Robert Duncan McNeill (of Star Trek Voyager fame).

Bruce Willis
Not only has Bruce Willis dabbled in sci-fi films, he’s dabbled in some high quality sci-fi films. He was in Terry Gilliam’s Twelve Monkeys, M. Night Shyamalan’s Unbreakable and most recently, Rian Johnson’s Looper. In The Fifth Element, written and directed by Luc Besson, Willis is joined by Gary Oldman, Milla Jovovich, Iam Holm and Chris Tucker. And since the original trailer for the movie does not do it justice (it’s very misleading, disappointing and kind of confusing), I’ll leave you with one of the coolest scenes from the movie (here be spoilers)...

Arnold Schwarzenegger
Arnie is no stranger to sci-fi films with Predator, Running Man and Total Recall under his belt. I was tempted to include Junior because... come on! But I gotta go with the follow up to his break out role in Conan, The Terminator. He has very few words and one goal: kill Sarah Connor! (ps: this film also introduced me to my very first onscreen crush, Kyle Reese played by Michael Biehn... oh, don’t judge me!)
