A vampire, a werewolf and a ghost move into a flat...
Yup, when I first read that premise back in 2008, it sounded like an intro to a joke. However, what sparked from it was a smart dramedy/horror that gained a faithful following and inspired an American adaptation, three novels and earned awards and accolades. That said, it’s with a heavy heart that I report that the fifth series of Being Human UK will be its last.
BBC Three announced today that the UK version of Being Human has been cancelled. Creator and writer of the series, Toby Whithouse had a very positive outlook on this news which he expressed on the Being Human Blog saying: “But much like the cast change from seasons 3 to 4, we viewed the news as an opportunity. It meant I could actually write a climax for the show, instead of it just popping out to the stops at the end of season 5 and never coming back. You've no idea how rare that is in television, and what a great opportunity it is to write something suitably definitive and satisfactory."
Though the man says they were able to write it a proper finale, he does go on to tease that it would leave much speculation, enough to drive you mad for years to come. We wouldn’t expect anything less from Being Human!
Stay tuned to Space for the final series of Being Human UK and send Hal, Tom and Alex off properly (airdate TBD). You can still catch their US counterparts Josh, Aidan and Sally on Being Human US Mondays at 9E/6P.
