Kevin Feige Shares New Details About Ant-Man And The Wasp
It’s fair to say that most fans of Ant-Man came out of that movie hoping to see the new Wasp (Evangeline Lilly) as soon as possible. According to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, she very nearly made her debut in Captain America: Civil War. “Wasp was in early versions of that [big fight] sequence,” he recently told /Film. “But we said, we want to save that for Ant-Man and the Wasp because that’s so much what the movie is going to be about: her as a hero.”
If you have yet to hear anything about Ant-Man’s appearance in Civil War and you want to stay completely in the dark, you should probably skip this next spoiler-ish detail: Ant-Man turns into Giant-Man. According to Feige, you might even see more of this character in Ant-Man and the Wasp. “It’s usually pretty organic,” he said of the studio’s decision-making process. “We’re a relatively small group at Marvel studios, so everybody knows what everyone else is doing… when something cool pops up in one of the other movies, people want to use it in upcoming movies.”
Nine months after Ant-Man’s release, Feige is extremely pleased with the results, particularly the heist emphasis, which proved to be a refreshing change of pace for superhero movies. However, director Peyton Reed has ruled out the possibility of another heist movie—and Feige isn’t revealing much more about the sequel’s genre trappings. “I can’t say, but certainly we are in early days now of working on it,” he said. “Paul Rudd is working on that story as we speak with Peyton Reed. We certainly want to stay true to what made it so unique and different, and we’ll see how that comes together.”
